Genealogy/Local History Room

The Local History Room staff is available to help area residents research local history and family history.  The room contains the Times Indicator newspapers on CD, photographs, picture CDs, and original documents.  A grant from the Fremont Area Community Foundation has supplied this room with a computer for genealogical research, a printer, a scanner for sensitive documents, and a digital camera for photographing fragile documents.  Ongoing efforts are being made to organize and catalog the material in the Local History Room. Volunteers have been sorting and filing local obituaries.  The room also contains many books and articles on Michigan, Newaygo County, and Grant histories.
